For a Monash Medical Centre based research institute a new Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) Microbiological laboratory suite, for research into diseases, is at completion. PC2 laboratories require an enormous amount of engineering for pressurization systems and specialist processes and finishes to achieve the air tightness needed for physical containment of the vectors being used in the laboratories. These spaces while empty now will be filled with specialist equipment in use.
